If we want the service life of the electric transformer we buy to be long enough, what should we do?

 

First of all, appearance inspection is essential. We should regularly check the appearance of the transformer to prevent that there is no oil leakage, cracks or other obvious damage and so on. Then a good job of cleaning is necessary for longer using time. We must keep the transformer and its surroundings clean to avoid dust and debris accumulation, which may interfere with the operation of the transformer or make the transformer is no longer in good working condition.

 

Then we need to do a good job of temperature monitoring. The first thing is the temperature instrument. We need to use it to monitor the temperature of the transformer to ensure that it is within the normal working range to avoid overheating and failure.
The second is to do a good job of heat dissipation. We need to check the operation of the cooling system. For the two types of transformers, dry transformers and oil transformers, their cooling systems are somewhat different. We must treat them differently to ensure good heat dissipation of the transformer.

 

The next step is oil quality testing. We can analyze the oil sample and regularly sample and analyze the insulating oil to check the content of moisture, acid value and other impurities in the oil. If the oil quality does not meet the standard, we must replace the insulating oil in time. The insulating oil will not only affect the heat dissipation system but also the insulation effect. The importance of this work is self-evident.

 

After checking the transformer oil, we also shouldn't ignore the insulation test. The insulation test, from it's name we can easy to konw the insulation includes insulation resistance test and partial discharge test. For this we should conduct insulation resistance test regularly to ensure transformer's good insulation performance, and conduct partial discharge test to monitor partial discharge and detect insulation defects in time to avoid greater losses.

 

Next, we need to check the connection of the transformer regularly, including fastening the connection and corrosion detection. For Fastening the connection, it means regularly checking the connection between the cable and the terminal block to ensure that there is no looseness. Corrosion detection means checking whether there is corrosion at the joint. And if the connection is unusable due to corrosion, we must deal with it.

 

Similarly, load monitoring is also essential. The first is load measurement. We need to regularly measure the load of the transformer to avoid overload operation. Then there is the load balance test. We use this test to ensure that the three-phase load is balanced and prevent overload.

 

Finally, we must also do a good job of safety protection. We must check the transformer's protection devices , such as overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection. At the same time, we also should formulate emergency plans to ensure that they can be handled quickly when a fault occurs.

 

If we can do the above measures, I believe the service life of our transformer will be greatly increased.
