How to test power transformer?

There are mainly the following methods to test power transformer:
1. Insulation resistance and absorption ratio R60/R15 test: This is a sensitive indicator for determining the degree of transformer insulation cracking and moisture. Measurement is carried out using a 2500V shaking table, comparing the difference between the values measured before and after two times. In 10 ~ 30 ℃, 35 ~ 60KV class transformer absorption ratio should be ≥ 1.2, while 110 ~ 330KV class transformer absorption ratio should be ≥ 1.3.
2. transformer ratio test: used to judge whether there is any short circuit between turns or layers of the winding, wrong turns ratio, wrong connection of switch leads and other faults.
3. Measurement of low-voltage excitation current: in the same voltage measured value and the original value of the comparison of whether there is a large increase in order to determine whether the winding has a short circuit between the layers and other faults.
4. Measurement of winding DC resistance: to determine the faults such as poor welding of wires, short-circuiting of windings, poor contact of switches, or wrong connection caused by measurements.
Please note that the above methods can only be used to detect obvious faults such as moisture and damage to insulation, but not local defects and early latent faults. Therefore, when testing power transformers, suitable test methods should be selected in conjunction with the actual situation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results. At the same time, attention should be paid to safety when conducting the test to avoid electric shock and other dangerous situations.
