The oil tank of an oil-immersed transformer serves as a protective shell for the transformer's body and a container for the oil. It also acts as a framework for assembling the external structural components of the transformer. Additionally, through the transformer oil, the heat generated from losses in the transformer body is dissipated into the atmosphere via convection and radiation.
As a container for oil (which is not static cold oil, but rather hot oil in motion), the oil tank should naturally be sealed to prevent oil leakage and seepage. This includes two aspects: first, all steel plate materials and welds must be leak-proof, which depends on the quality of the steel plates, welding process standards, and welding structural design; second, the seals at mechanical connections must be oil-tight, which is determined by the performance of the sealing materials and the rationality of the sealing structure.
