Does transformer change frequency or change power?

Transformers primarily change voltage and current, not frequency or power. By changing the voltage ratio, a transformer can convert the input voltage into a voltage suitable for the equipment. Also, transformers can change the current magnitude, but according to the law of conservation of energy, the input power is equal to the output power, so transformers cannot change the power magnitude.
Although the transformer can not directly change the frequency, but in practice, it can be achieved through the use of inverters and other equipment to change the frequency of the AC power supply. A frequency converter is an electronic device that can change the frequency of the power supply, and it can convert a certain frequency of AC power to another frequency of AC power to meet the needs of different applications.
Therefore, both transformers and inverters play an important role in power systems, but their functions and application scenarios are different. Transformers are mainly used to change the voltage and current while inverters are used to change the power frequency.
